You wouldn’t believe it’s not a new home. The brief at Chapman Avenue, Castle Hill, was to update a tired old 70’s spec home into a modern, family residence. An addition to the first floor, including a portico and balcony has drastically changed the façade of the house causing many to mistake it as a new build. The removal of the existing tiled roof and replacement with colourbond metal sheeting has drastically modernised the home.

Every internal wall has been relocated to create bright and spacious open plan living areas, including a family retreat, separate meals area and state-of the-art kitchen, Caesar stone bench tops, generous island bench for casual dining, walk-in pantry with preparation area. The frameless glass servery window was a must for the client, when you walk through the front door of this home, your focus is drawn straight out to the pool due to the unobstructed view.

The internal stairs have been relocated to create a spacious landing with casual living area on the first floor (as opposed to the existing closed in hall way) allowing an abundance of natural light on both the first and ground floors. The stairs being constructed out of sections of PFC structural steel and blackbutt timber treads create a beautiful modern industrial feature of the house.

The interior floor boards are Australiana grade, blackbutt timber and the exterior decking is merbau. The study desk and display cabintry was construction out of marine grade ply.

Select Construction also undertook all the external works which included a pool renovation, outdoor entertaining pergola and landscaping works. The landscaping works included block retaining walls, decking, tiling, planting and turfing and a new concrete driveway. Creating an indoor/outdoor fusion was a major focus of this renovation. All casual living areas extend out to the generous outdoor entertaining area featuring undercover BBQ and outdoor kitchen.

“When we purchased this home, we had big ideas for it, we were able to see past the boring façade and terribly outdated kitchen, bathroom and archways. We knew what we wanted and we knew it would look great, Daniel was able to put me in contact with a draftsmen who added to and refined my ideas. Daniel and his team of carpenters and tradesmen were all fantastic, the entire process was very smooth sailing, Daniel was always available to answer any of our questions or deal with our last minute changes. The quality of the finishes cannot be questioned, we could not be happier with our new and improved home and could not recommend Select Construction highly enough”
